Actor, director, and producer Robert Redford has died at the age of 89.

According to Report, citing The New York Times and his representative, Redford passed away in his sleep on September 16 at his home in Sundance, located in the mountains of Utah.

Redford was one of the most prominent film stars of the 1970s, effortlessly moving between Hollywood"s New Wave and mainstream cinema. In the following decades, he also became an Oscar-winning director and producer.
