The 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Brazil's Belem will allow country leaders to demonstrate real commitment to the climate agenda.
As Report informs, this was stated today by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
"Nuclear weapons will not protect us from the climate crisis. 2024 has become the hottest year in history. COP30 in Brazil will be a conference of truth. This will be a time when leaders of all countries can prove that they are seriously committed to their obligations," he said.
According to Lula da Silva, Brazil is committed to reducing emissions.
The Brazilian president emphasized that the climate change must be in the center of attention at the UN.
