Military co-op and counterterrorism to top agenda at CIS leaders' summit

Military cooperation and energy security will be the main topics at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), scheduled for October in Dushanbe, according to Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, Report informs via BelTA.

"The meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State will take place on October 9 and 10 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan," Petrishenko stated.

During the sessions, member states will discuss key areas of collaboration, including military cooperation and regional security. Special attention will be given to energy security and efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Additionally, the summit will consider the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) request to be granted observer status within the CIS.
