Latvia preparing to completely close border with Belarus

Latvia may completely close its border with Belarus, Report informs referring to the Baltnews agency.

According to the head of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rihards Kozlovskis, the country's authorities are ready to close the last functioning checkpoint on the Latvian-Belarusian border.

He noted that this decision should be 'a unified and coordinated action by all three Baltic countries.'

The day before, the Latvian Saeima (the country's parliament) submitted to the National Security Commission for consideration a draft resolution on the complete closure of the borders with Russia and Belarus for the duration of their military exercises "West."

Earlier, Poland closed all border crossings and airspace on the border with Belarus for an indefinite period.

Subsequently, the closure of the airspace was reported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
