The United Nations needs $ 35 billion to respond to the biggest humanitarian crisis since World War II, Report says, citing the statement of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
"2020 was like no other year. Conflict, climate change, and the coronavirus have created the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II. The number of hungry people has doubled, hundreds of millions of children cannot go to school, and poverty has risen for the first time in 22 years. We must be mobilized to support those most at risk during this period.
"We need $ 35 billion to save the lives of 160 million people. Today, more than 40 million people are victims of modern slavery. Women and girls make up 71% of this figure," the statement noted.
