Kremlin: EU wrong to think sanctions will change Russia's stance

The European Union is mistaken in believing that continuing its sanctions policy will influence Russia's position, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Report informs, citing the Russian press.

Peskov stated: "Many EU and European countries continue a hostile stance toward Russia. They believe that sanctions will somehow change Russia's position. This is incorrect."

His comments were made in response to the EU's plans to accelerate its move away from Russian energy resources and to introduce its 19th sanctions package, which will reportedly target Russia's cryptocurrency activities, banking sector, and energy industry.

Peskov added that such sanctions primarily harm the EU's own economy.
