Germany sees its highest increase in daily COVID incidence

Germany registered 39,676 new COVID cases over the past day, its highest daily tally for the entire pandemic, Report informs, citing the Robert Koch Institute.
The previous record incidence was seen on November 5, when 37,120 cases were confirmed per day.
Since the pandemic onset, the infection has been detected in 4,844,054 residents of Germany.
As many as 236 people died of the disease over the past day, bringing the country's total death toll to 96,963.
Last week, acting German Health Minister Jens Spahn said that Germany was facing the fourth wave of the pandemic, which, according to him, is a "pandemic of the unvaccinated."
