Former French president given jail sentence

A Paris court has sentenced former French President Nicolas Sarkozy to one year in prison, Report informs via BFM TV.
The former head of state was found guilty of illegally financing the 2012 election campaign. Reportedly, 42 million euros were spent on the campaign against 22 million euros provided by law.
Sarkozy will not be sent to prison; he will serve his sentence by wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.
