Death toll from rainstorms in Brazil rises to 12

The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in the Brazilian state of Bahia has grown to 12, Report informs referring to TASS.
So far, 267 people have been injured as a result of the disaster, several thousand were left homeless, and more than 8,300 people were forced to leave their homes. Damage from the disaster affected 220,300 residents of the region to varying degrees.
The rains started six days ago, caused by an extratropical cyclone, and intensified over the weekend.
Rainstorms left several towns and rural areas completely cut off, making it difficult for relief teams to reach them.
