The situation along the entire front line in Ukraine is quite tense, Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Fedir Venislavskyi told Report.
He noted that Russia is trying to take control of some settlements, partially or completely, on the eve of possible negotiations: "But our defense forces are successfully resisting them. Moreover, the situation that was several weeks ago in the Donetsk direction has been taken under control. Almost every day, our armed forces are liberating some settlements captured by the Russian forces. Therefore, there can be no territorial concessions on the part of Ukraine. In principle, decisions to withdraw our armed forces from any territory of Ukraine are impossible. These are unacceptable conditions, as the president has repeatedly stated. This has also been voiced by other representatives of the Ukrainian state at various levels."
The committee chairman also noted that no changes to the constitution are required to deploy foreign armed forces into Ukrainian territory: "We have a law on the procedure for admitting foreign armed forces into Ukrainian territory. Our parliament and president have the authority, within their constitutional rights, to make decisions on the deployment of foreign armed forces into Ukrainian territory."
