The authorities of the Belgian and European capital, as they like to call themselves, have come up with a way to help residents and visitors discover Brussels from a completely new angle.
According to Report’s European bureau, the exhibition “Brussels in Pink” by Philippe Katerine will be on display in central shopping galleries and at busy intersections until the end of September.
A dozen monumental sculptures of his iconic character Monsieur Rose have been installed in the heart of Brussels, stretching from the Grand-Place to Rue Haute, passing through the Ravenstein Gallery.
French singer, composer, and artist Katerine is the creator of “Mignonism”—an artistic movement that celebrates softness, absurdity, and the strangeness of everyday life.
With their rounded shapes and pink color, the Monsieur Rose sculptures are designed to bring smiles, spark reflection, and encourage people to see things differently.
Curators of the project note that the pink sculptures perfectly match Brussels’ quirky spirit: “With fun signposts, an interactive map, and detailed information about each artwork, visitors will discover not only the artist’s creations but also many fascinating spots along the way.”
