Afghanistan thanks Azerbaijan, global community after deadly quake

Afghanistan has expressed gratitude to the international community, including Azerbaijan, for the support and solidarity shown following the devastating earthquake that claimed over 2,000 lives, Report informs.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan extends its gratitude to the governments of various countries, international organizations, and human rights bodies for their messages of condolence and solidarity, as well as for the humanitarian assistance," the MFA said on X.

Azerbaijan is among the countries acknowledged by Afghanistan for their support.

The 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan on August 31, resulting in the deaths of more than 2,200 people and injuries to nearly 4,000 others.

On September 1, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered its condolences to Afghanistan.
