Azerbaijani, Turkish MPs discuss urban planning cooperation

Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Chairman Azer Amiraslanov met with a delegation led by Adil Karaismailoglu, chairman of the Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport and Tourism Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told Report that the meeting discussed the importance of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), held in Baku, in terms of the global urbanization agenda, Azerbaijan's and Türkiye's experience in urban planning and reconstruction, and issues of interparliamentary cooperation in this field.
Amiraslanov highly praised Türkiye's representation by a large delegation and active participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku. It was noted that WUF13 is another confirmation of Azerbaijan's growing influence in the modern system of international relations. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan has gained important experience in rebuilding cities and villages based on modern urban planning principles, creating sustainable infrastructure and forming a safe living environment. It was stated that the Smart City and Smart Village projects implemented in the liberated territories, as well as reconstruction work carried out on the basis of modern master plans, are regarded as exemplary experience in terms of international urban development.
Adil Karaismailoglu, chairman of the Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport and Tourism Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, thanked Azerbaijan for the attention and hospitality and said WUF13 was organized at a high level. He stressed that the forum is an important platform for discussing modern challenges related to urban planning, infrastructure and sustainable development.
The event was also addressed by Deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Azer Badamov, committee members Ali Masimli, Aydin Huseynov, Vugar Bayramov and Mushfig Jafarov, head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Shamil Ayrim, and Turkish MPs Hulusi Shenturk, Mervan Gul, Huseyin Yildiz and Cem Avsar. They expressed their views on further strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on expanding the Azerbaijan-Türkiye strategic partnership in the field of urban policy, strengthening regional cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy, and other issues of mutual interest.
