Japan sets world record for ‘healthy longevity’

Japan has set a world record for so-called healthy longevity – the age up to which an elderly person can do without assistance and not need care, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Welfare said, Report informs referring to Oops Top.
“The age of healthy longevity in Japan – for both men and women – has become the highest in the world,” the ministry said in a statement. For women it is 75.5 years, for men 72.6.
Compared to 2016 data, the growth was 0.59 years for women and 0.54 for men. In comparison with 2001, the age of “healthy longevity” increased by 2.73 years for women and 3.28 years for men.
At the same time, Japan also has the highest life expectancy among the G7 countries – 81.41 years for men and 87.45 for women.
