WUF13 official: Great Return program is a strong example of New Urban Agenda

One of the strongest examples of the implementation of the principles of the New Urban Agenda is the Great Return program being carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy Head of the Staff of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and Deputy National Coordinator of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, said at the event titled "Global Housing Crisis: What is the Plan?" organized within the framework of WUF13, Report informs.

She emphasized that large-scale reconstruction and restoration work is being carried out in these territories, which were subjected to complete destruction and ecocide during nearly 30 years of occupation: "The principles of the New Urban Agenda and a new approach to urban planning have truly shaped our planning projects and planning activities in these territories. They are being built with sustainability, resilience and inclusivity, smart cities and smart villages, green energy zones, and climate-sensitive planning kept at the center of attention from the very beginning of these processes. Housing provision is being developed together with access to transport, education, healthcare, employment, and social services, thus the '15-minute city' principles are being applied in these territories. This demonstrates an important lesson: adequate housing provision is not just about houses, it means creating complete and functional communities and ecosystems."
