By investing in strategic corridors like the Middle Corridor, the region can not only reap economic benefits but also shape a sustainable multipolar world order, World Bank regional director for the South Caucasus, Rolande Pryce, said during the first Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025), Report informs.
According to Pryce, the emerging Black Sea Submarine Cable initiative strengthens energy security, digital connectivity, and integration between the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and Europe.
"The project will connect the region's electricity and digital markets with the EU through entry points in Georgia and Romania. The potential is enormous if we continue to focus on regional integration so that all countries of the South Caucasus can benefit. The strategic vision here is clear," she noted.
The regional director emphasized that the South Caucasus and Central Asia are not just transit routes, but also new drivers of growth, innovation, and interregional cooperation.
"By investing in strategic corridors and leveraging the connectivity opportunities of the Black Sea, the region can play a decisive role in shaping a global sustainable order. Continued partnership, regional coordination, and innovative financing mechanisms, including private sector and subnational participation, will be key to realizing the modern Silk Road as a bridge to global sustainability," Pryce added.
