Special rep: Modern urban planning, transformation projects are being implemented in Karabakh

Modern urban planning and transformation projects are being implemented in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Vahid Hajiyev, the Special Representative of the President for Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, said at the event "Smart and Sustainable City Projects in Azerbaijan" organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, Report informs.

"Today, the world is changing quite rapidly. We all understand that new technologies, high living standards, and new opportunities are transforming society. At the same time, we face serious global challenges such as climate change, social inequality, and environmental pressures," he noted.

According to the Special Representative, the reconstruction of Karabakh is being carried out based on sustainable development principles: "The first step taken was the implementation of the First Great Return State Program covering the period of 2022-2026. This program envisages a considerable number of activities to make the resettlement and re-settlement of former internally displaced persons as sustainable as possible. Thus, one of the main priorities was sustainability. To ensure that sustainability is achieved, the State Program has a significant number of activities and targets; these include the construction of houses, development of territories, construction of highways, railways, and all necessary infrastructure, as well as the creation of investment opportunities in the region."
