Rossbach: Over 3 billion people live in climate-vulnerable regions

Currently, 3.3–3.6 billion people live in regions vulnerable to climate-related threats, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anacláudia Rossbach, said in a message to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

The statement was read on her behalf by Rafael Tuts, Director of the Global Solutions Division of UN-Habitat.

"Weather-related disasters between 2015 and 2024 have led to the forced internal displacement of 248 million people. Extreme heat threatens 4 billion people. These are not future projections - these are today's realities. However, the full potential of the housing sector as part of the solution remains largely untapped," the statement said.
