Azerbaijan's experience in increasing its share of renewable energy capacity is of interest to Georgia, Omar Tsereteli, a representative of the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, said in Baku at the Azerbaijan & Central Asia Green Energy Week 2025, Report informs.
He stated that Georgia has made a number of commitments, including increasing its share of renewable energy consumption by 2030 and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 47% by 2030.
"Regarding renewable energy, we have a commitment to increase its share in consumption to 27.4%. Currently, this figure is 19%. Georgia is still struggling to reach the required level, but we continue to follow the agenda of the European Union and the Energy Community Secretariat," Tsereteli said.
He noted that the issue of transposing relevant regulations and directives into national legislation, which Georgia is working on, is extremely important.
"They are one of the necessary conditions for us to develop the energy sector and become one of the region's leaders in energy infrastructure development. In this regard, Azerbaijan's contribution is extremely significant for us, and the country's experience in increasing the share of renewable energy capacity is of interest," Tsereteli added.
