Mexico mayor: Without housing access, women's lives become harder

When women lack access to housing, their lives become more difficult, said Clara Brugada, Mayor of Mexico City, during a session on women's housing security at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

She stressed the state's responsibility to create more care facilities: "We must ensure there are enough institutions to care for the children of working women. When women do not have access to housing, their living conditions become harder. On the other hand, in Mexico, women face violence in 80% of cases inside their own homes. Yet home should be the safest place for them."

Brugada went on to emphasize the importance of building an international feminist system: "No woman should be forgotten. Humanity must build an international feminist system. For the first time in 200 years of independence, Mexico has a female president. This means the time of women has truly arrived."
