Magdalena Grono: Nakhchivan will become an important logistics hub

Nakhchivan, located at the very center of the global infrastructure route between Europe and Asia, is set to become an important logistics hub, European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Magdalena Grono, said commenting on the purpose of her visit to Nakhchivan.

She emphasized the strategic significance of the region:

"Many crucial communication lines and roads intersect here. Unfortunately, many of these roads have remained closed for many years, while at the same time being part of a once-existing conflict. The region"s communication opportunities have been limited."

According to Grono, opening these roads and developing the transport and communication infrastructure overall will benefit all countries in the region.

"It is in this context that we are here. Both the opening of roads and the establishment and expansion of relations between Europe and Asia, including Central Asian countries, are our priorities," she stressed.
