Khankandi hosts WUF13 information session

An information session dedicated to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was held with students at Qarabağ University on May 10 to inform the public about the event.

Report's correspondent dispatched to Khankandi said representatives of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company addressed the event. Speakers included Ramiz Idrisoglu, a representative of the committee, and Eldar Rasulov, communications manager and chief manager for content and media relations at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company.

Rasulov provided detailed information about the WUF13 Festival and highlighted the forum's importance for Azerbaijan, as well as the main events that may be of interest to young people. He called on young people to actively participate in WUF13.

In his remarks, Idrisoglu emphasized that a systematic approach underlies the planned development of cities in Azerbaijan.

It was noted that alongside restoration work in Garabagh and East Zangazur, which were completely destroyed as a result of Armenian vandalism, the territories are being rebuilt from scratch in line with modern standards. Master plans for eight cities and urban planning justifications for 101 villages and settlements in these areas have already been approved. Master plans for two cities are being coordinated with relevant institutions, while work on master plans for two more cities is in the final stage.

The projects being implemented are creating a completely new ecosystem in these territories that meets global trends and incorporates smart city and smart village concepts, renewable energy and green zone approaches.

The WUF13 Festival will continue at 6 p.m. with an open-air public program.

The program will present topics such as sustainable urban development, inclusive urban environments, innovative urban solutions and cities of the future to a wide audience through interactive activities, educational games, presentations and public discussions. Detailed information will also be provided about the main theme and ideas of WUF13.
