The opening of the Zangazur Corridor will expand transport links between Azerbaijan and Türkiye and facilitate cargo transportation, Martin Brix Voetman, Managing Director of the Danish company Azurite Caspian Trucking, said at the forum "Black Sea-Caspian Cargo Forum: Corridors, Cargo, Infrastructure" in Baku.
According to Report, he noted that the Middle Corridor is one of the greatest achievements of the past decade.
"I have long argued that logistics in Central Asia is among the most complex in the world. When the first container trains started moving along the Middle Corridor and goods began reaching destinations faster via this route, discussions about intercontinental rail solutions intensified. It can confidently be said that the rail route from China to Europe is not just a concept to develop-it is already a fully functioning corridor," he said.
The Danish company official emphasized that there is commercial demand for this corridor.
"When the Belt and Road Initiative was promoted, most logistics specialists said the project was commercially unviable. Some believed it could exist only with subsidies from China. However, it is now clear that this is not the case. There is geopolitical demand, political interest, and also commercial demand for transporting goods via the Middle Corridor," he added.
