Georgian Railways: BTK railway to boost Middle Corridor's transit capacity

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project will increase the transit capacity of the Middle Corridor, Georgian Railways CEO Lasha Abashidze said, Report's Georgian bureau informs.

He emphasized the project's strategic importance for the region.

"The project was implemented as a result of successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia and enabled the creation of a new transport route in the Middle Corridor. This is an important strategic project for both Azerbaijan and Georgia and also creates additional opportunities in the direction of Türkiye," Abashidze said.

He added that the project is based on modern, high-tech infrastructure and serves to increase the region's transit potential.

"This project is important not only for our countries, but for all countries located along the Middle Corridor. It will strengthen the Middle Corridor and further increase our countries" transit function," he said.
