Georgia declares influence of post-Soviet legacy on housing policy

The post-Soviet legacy and the consequences of conflicts continue to influence housing policy in Georgia, Tinatin Kolbaia, first deputy head of the Georgian Agency for Territorial and Urban Development, said at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

She stated that the agency is working with municipalities on municipal and urban development plans, but the key task remains the development of a national spatial plan.

The Georgian agency representative emphasized that housing provision is defined in the country's legislation as a separate area and issue requiring regulation.

According to her, the country has separate housing programs focused on the specific needs of society.

"As is well known, we are a post-Soviet country and are faced with the legacy of conflicts and the collapse of the Soviet system," she added.
