Fuad Karimli: Water resources must be properly managed for sustainable cities' future development

Proper management of water resources is essential for the sustainable development of future cities, Fuad Karimli, Secretary General of the Global South NGO Platform, told journalists at the Global South NGO Platform pavilion organized within the framework of WUF13, Report informs.

According to him, representatives from Pakistan, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Oman participated in the panel discussions:

"Panelists of the Global South NGO Platform participated in the event. During the speeches, views were exchanged on the impact of inefficient management of water resources on women and youth. Panel participants also highlighted the principles on which future cities should be built. They also discussed the impact of improper urban development on women and children."

Karimli noted that the speakers became closely acquainted with the Aghali smart village project in the Zangilan district during a visit to the liberated territories:

"The guests shared their observations on how future city and village models should be built there. Panel participants highly appreciated such innovative projects implemented by Azerbaijan and expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev. It was also emphasized that non-governmental organizations working in the direction of smart cities and their partners will strive to implement these experiences in their own countries."
