Freight transport begins on Horadiz–Aghband railway to Araz Valley Industrial Park

Freight transport has commenced on the Horadiz–Agbend railway line to the Araz Valley Industrial Park, Javad Alovsatov, Construction Manager at the Project Management Department of Azerbaijan Railways, told journalists.

According to a Report correspondent in Zangilan, Alovsatov noted that the total length of the railway is 110.4 km (140.6 km including side tracks).

"The project includes the construction of 9 stations, 9 bridges, 26 level crossings, 3 galleries, 4 tunnels, and more than 500 engineering structures. Construction is being carried out in three phases. Most of the first phase has been completed, enabling the start of freight deliveries to the industrial park. During the second phase, additional bridges were built to protect the railway from the Khudafarin hydroelectric facility, as the natural terrain lies below the maximum water level. In the third phase, earthworks and construction of engineering structures, including tunnels, are ongoing," Alovsatov said.

He added that rail-sleeper grids have already been installed along 75.6 km of the Horadiz–Aghband line, and the overall physical progress of the project has reached 67%.
