Azerbaijan sees decrease in cargo transportation

In January this year, cargo transportation in Azerbaijan decreased by 12.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, Report informs, referring to the State Statistics Committee.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period dropped by 6.4 percent compared to the previous month and 53.8 percent in annual terms. Some 51.9 percent of the cargo was transported by road, 36.9 percent - by pipeline, 8.1 percent - by rail, 2.8 percent - by sea, 0.3 percent - by air transport.
Some 99.8 percent of passengers were transported by cars, and the rest by other types of transport.
The decrease in freight and passenger traffic is caused by restrictive measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
