Azerbaijan, Iran discuss synchronized cargo clearance and data exchange

Azerbaijan and Iran have discussed the synchronized clearance of freight vehicles at border checkpoints and the electronic exchange of data, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.

The issues were discussed during a meeting in the Iranian city of Bileh Savar between Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration Foroud Asgari.

The sides also reviewed ways to expand cooperation, improve transit procedures and speed up the movement of freight vehicles traveling from Azerbaijan through Iran to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and back. A protocol was signed following the meeting.

After the talks, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the Bileh Savar customs post in Iran, while the Iranian delegation toured the Bileh Savar border checkpoint in Azerbaijan.
