Azerbaijan is actively developing its infrastructure while remaining committed to economic diversification and deepening, said Nicolaas Alberts, head of the Middle East office of investment company Ninety One.
According to Report, he made the remarks during the first Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025).
Alberts noted that Ninety One has extensive experience financing infrastructure projects in some of the world's most challenging and promising markets. Over the past 15 years, the company has invested more than $3 billion in such projects.
He also highlighted the company's transition fund, which supports businesses aiming to adopt environmentally friendly production methods and new technologies.
"Azerbaijan is committed to diversifying and deepening its economy. The country has identified four critical sectors where numerous small-scale projects need to be launched, feasibility studies conducted, and initial funding secured," Alberts said.
He emphasized that early-stage financing is often insufficient, making additional startup funding crucial. In this context, development and export agencies can play a key role in making projects financially viable.
