Annual transit cargo nears 15M tons in Azerbaijan

The annual volume of transit cargo transportation in Azerbaijan is approaching 15 million tons, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said at today's meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship, according to Report.

He noted that the government's socio-economic policies in recent years, along with approved state programs, have significantly contributed to the expansion and development of the country's transport infrastructure. "As a result, Azerbaijan is rapidly becoming one of the key transport hubs on the Eurasian continent," he said.

Hummatov added that, due to improvements in seaports and other transportation hubs, a record volume of transit cargo passed through Azerbaijan last year. "This figure is now nearing 15 million tons. We are also observing substantial growth in domestic cargo transportation. Multiple transport corridors crossing the country, as well as frequent meetings, statements, and recently signed agreements, are opening up broad prospects for the future," he emphasized.
