Anacláudia Rossbach: Nature-related risks should be considered in building construction

Risks to nature should be considered when constructing buildings.

Report informs that Anacláudia Rossbach, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said this at a session titled "Climate-Resilient Cities and Communities in the Caspian Region: Securing Climate Finance for Urban Adaptation," held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to her, when structures are constructed, resilient buildings should be built that both protect nature and provide protection from future natural disasters:

"Forecasts show that half of the world's population will live in cities in 2050. For this reason, buildings resistant to natural disasters, storms and rain must be constructed. In recent years, increased rainfall in the region has been observed to cause numerous consequences."
