Azerbaijan and Türkiye have major responsibilities in the Middle Corridor project, Alper Özel, CEO of the International Transporters Association, told journalists at the 2nd Caspian International Forum on Transport, Transit and Logistics in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the Middle Corridor is currently one of the most discussed topics.
"In this sense, transport and trade relations between the European Union and Central Asia are of great importance. Türkiye and Azerbaijan are the most crucial countries in the Middle Corridor. Türkiye is considered the gateway to the European Union, while Azerbaijan is recognized as a key country in the Caspian Sea basin," the CEO noted.
He added that Azerbaijan's role in the Middle Corridor project is slightly greater than that of Türkiye: "Because all cargo arrives at the Alat International Sea Trade Port and is consolidated there. Therefore, Azerbaijan's efforts in this matter are very important to us."
