Affordable housing strategies being developed in Ukraine

Affordable housing strategies are being developed in Ukraine.

Report informs that Maria Kostenko, national consultant of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on strengthening urban resilience, infrastructure and housing in Ukraine, said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.

According to her, Ukraine is working on the development of municipal housing strategies.

"Projects cover eight pilot cities, including Zhytomyr, Kremenchuk, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Bila Tserkva - a suburb of Kyiv - and Kalush. We are developing municipal strategies and operating models that create opportunities for affordable housing," she said.

She added that projects on the digitalization of the urban cadastre are being implemented in Ukraine.

"In particular, cooperation in this area is underway with the city of Kharkiv. There is a need to create mechanisms for systematic data collection at the national and local levels. Digital tools, the urban cadastre and risk assessment systems are important for sustainable urban development," Kostenko said.
