Problems with solid waste disposal and clogged drainage systems increase the risk of flooding in densely populated urban areas, Asian Development Bank (ADB) representative Norio Saito said at a conference during the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
He stated that solid waste, which often blocks drainage infrastructure, poses a serious threat to cities.
"The concept of affordable housing should not be limited to living space alone. Without water supply, sewerage, energy, roads, and drainage systems, such housing cannot be considered truly affordable," Saito emphasized.
