Industrial output in Azerbaijan"s Sumgayit surged eightfold over past decade

In 2025, the total value of manufactured products in Sumgayit, Azerbaijan, reached 5.1 billion manats (almost $3 billion) -six times more than the 850 million manats (just under $500 million) recorded in 2015, Report informs.

Meanwhile, the city"s industrial production has grown eightfold over the same period, totaling 4 billion manats (about $2.35 billion).

Over the past ten years, the city has experienced significant socioeconomic development. Average monthly salaries rose from 400 ($235.29) to 850 manats ($500), while investments directed toward fixed capital tripled, increasing from 140 million ($82.3 million) to 420 million manats (just over $247 million).

The population also expanded, growing from 336,000 residents in 2015 to 428,000 in 2025. Employment figures nearly doubled, with the number of employed individuals rising from 100,000 to 190,000.

The industrial landscape of Sumgayit has transformed as well. The number of operating industrial enterprises increased markedly-from 124 in 2015 to 327 in 2025. Meanwhile, annual per capita income climbed from 3,400 manats  ($2,000) to 5,600 manats ($3,294), reflecting broader economic gains across the city.
