Azerbaijan, China review electric bus project at Sumgayit Park

Work carried out under the electric bus localization project at Azerbaijan's Sumgayit Industrial Park, managed by the Economic Zones Development Agency (EZDA) under the Ministry of Economy, was reviewed along with future targets, Report informs, citing the ministry.

In this context, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with Tian Chunlong, General Director of the Commercial Vehicles Department at the Chinese company BYD.

The sides noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and China has rapidly advanced in recent years. They also noted that several key agreements and memorandums signed during President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to China-including the Joint Declaration on Establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership-have opened up broad prospects for collaboration. It was highlighted that Chinese investment projects in Azerbaijan, along with ties under the Belt and Road Initiative, contribute to strengthening regional integration.

During the meeting, participants discussed measures taken to achieve Azerbaijan's economic priorities, enhance industrial capacity, implement green technologies, and improve energy efficiency. New opportunities for partnership, knowledge exchange, and cooperation were explored. The importance of investing in new production sectors to develop value chains was emphasized. The current status and future goals of the electric bus localization project at Sumgayit Industrial Park were also reviewed.
