Azerbaijani woman grandmaster becomes world champion

On the eve of the final round of the women's competition at the World Junior Chess Championships 2022 (for Open & Girls under 20) in Italy, the champion was announced, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
Azerbaijan's representative Govhar Beydullayeva, competing among girls in the X round, played to a draw with Zala Urh from Slovenia and Leman Hajiyeva with Livia Jarocka from Poland.
After this result, Beydullayeva secured a gold medal in the world championship of under-20 chess players. With this victory, she went down in history as the first woman grandmaster to become the world champion among 20-year-olds in the history of Azerbaijani chess.
