Prosecutor General: Rule of law, human rights unite Kenya with Azerbaijan

Today, the shared values that unite Azerbaijan and Kenya are justice, the rule of law, and respect for human rights, according to Kenya's Prosecutor General Renson Ingonga, Report informs.

Ingonga shared this insight at the international conference themed "Safeguarding Sovereignty: The Status of the Prosecutor's Office in the Constitution", organized by Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office in Baku.

He emphasized that the Constitution adopted by nationwide referendum in 1995 is a vivid expression of Azerbaijan's determination to build a democratic state based on sovereignty, unity, and the rule of law:

"It enshrines the principles of equality, human dignity, and social justice, thereby laying a solid foundation for the protection of every citizen's rights and freedoms. One of the Constitution's most important features is its recognition of the people as the source of state authority. This fundamental principle ensures that governance stems from the will of the people and is carried out for their welfare. As prosecutors, our duty is to ensure these rights are not confined to legal texts but are felt in the daily lives of citizens. In every criminal case, we are responsible for upholding the presumption of innocence, ensuring fair trial guarantees, and defending the dignity of victims."
