OECD rep mulls data standardization, its role in urban governance at WUF13

An abundance of data alone doesn't solve the problem-it's crucial to transform it into accessible and actionable information for end users, and this remains a pressing challenge, Claudia Baranzelli, a representative of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), said at an event during WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, there is no shortage of data today-it comes from both traditional institutions and non-traditional sources.

"At the OECD, we standardize data from various sources, adapt it, and transform it into indicators that bring real value to cities, regions, local authorities, and decision-makers," Baranzelli said.

She also noted that the OECD's local data portal currently covers over 225,000 municipalities and 1,500 cities in 41 countries, grouping over 100 indicators across various thematic areas, including demography, economics, quality of life, transport, and energy.
