IRIA: ICPC may increase number of startups in Azerbaijan

The number of startups in Azerbaijan is expected to increase thanks to competitions such as the 49th World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan"s Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA), said at a press conference dedicated to the ICPC World Finals 2025, Report informs.

According to Aliyev, one of the most important components in the development of the innovation ecosystem is the improving human potential.

"I think this competition will contribute to the development of ICT specialists in Azerbaijan. Our students who participated in this competition have already increased their knowledge and skills. They have demonstrated their level of knowledge by competing with students from different countries. This competition will create new opportunities for other specialists and students in the country," he added.

Aliyev believes that participation in such competitions forms fundamental knowledge in young people and directs them to create more flexible, more innovative solutions: "Naturally, in such a case, an increase in the number of startups in our country is expected."
