The Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos) hopes that in a few years it will be able to rely on local partners in the fields of Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, and new space sectors, Fuad Aslanov, Deputy Chairman of Azercosmos, stated at the launch event of the first National Space Incubation project, Report informs.
Aslanov noted that currently, Azercosmos largely depends on international partners for program development and exporting products, services, and solutions to global markets: "Space is no longer a closed community. Today it is accessible to many initiatives, young entrepreneurs, and startups. We see this in the examples of our international partners and are confident that Azerbaijani entrepreneurs can achieve great success."
The official emphasized the urgent need for the development of the digital economy.
"Azerbaijan has adopted a digital economy development strategy for 2026–2029. Today, Azercosmos contributes about 2% to this program. We expect this contribution to grow over the years, especially with the support of your initiatives," he said.
