Azerbaijan joins UPU Council of Administration, Postal Operations Council

Azerbaijan has been elected a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Council of Administration and Postal Operations Council, Report informs referring to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

"At the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union, held in Dubai, Azerbaijan, for the first time in history, received membership in both of the organization's highest bodies – the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council. This recognition reflects the country's growing authority in the international postal system, its contribution to technological development and cooperation," reads the statement.

The ministry notes that membership will provide Azerbaijan with participation in UPU governance, a voice in strategic and budgetary decisions, and the opportunity to influence the development of the UPU Convention and other key documents.

"This will allow the country to advance its initiatives, shape postal and digital service standards, and strengthen its position in international logistics and e-commerce," the statement said.

Azerbaijan's term of office will be four years, from 2025 to 2029. The country has also previously been elected to the UPU's governing bodies, including in 2004, 2008 and 2016.
