Researchers from the University of Nicosia in Cyprus said that pollen from trees might spread viruses such as COVID-19, Report informs.
Scientists have created a computer model of willow and simulated the distribution of its pollen. To do this, they used advanced hydrodynamic models.
It turned out that with a light wind, pollen can fly 20 meters in a minute, carrying virus particles through a crowd of people.
The authors of the study concluded that a distance of 1.5 meters is not enough to reduce the risk of the spread of coronavirus.
Earlier, US scientists from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda identified a new factor aggravating the course of COVID-19.
