Recently, the incidence of overweight and obesity among children has increased, Ahliman Amiraslanov, chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis, said at the presentation of the 'Towards a Healthy Weight' project.
According to him, overweight and obesity shorten human life by at least ten years:
"Another figure from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that 20 million of the 8 billion people globally are overweight. It is obvious how serious and dangerous this problem is. Although it is said that about 20% of the population of Azerbaijan is overweight, this number is a little higher. Because in WHO documents, this indicator is over 50-60%."
