Global COVID-19 deaths on rise

The global coronavirus death toll has increased by 11% over the past week, while the number of new COVID-19 cases has been on the rise for the sixth consecutive week, Report informs, citing the weekly epidemiological bulletin of the World Health Organization (WHO).
"Globally, the number of new COVID-19 cases increased for the sixth consecutive week, and in the last week, there were more than 4 million new cases. The number of new deaths also increased by 11% compared to last week, with more than 71,000 new deaths," reads a WHO bulletin published on April 6.
According to the organization, the increase in COVID-19 deaths in seven days was 46% in South-Eastern Asia, 15% in the Americas, 7% in the Eastern Mediterranean, and 2% in Europe.
