Tehran to host Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission meeting next week

Next week, a meeting of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission will be held in Tehran, said Hossein Pirmoazzen, deputy head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), Report informs via the Azad Iran telegram channel.

He made the remark during his meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou.

Pirmoazzen stated that Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev is also expected to attend the meeting.

The official then highlighted the fact that the creation of a logistics port and joint industrial town in the Bilasuvar Free Trade and Industrial Zone between the two countries is planned.

According to him, these projects will be implemented with the approval of the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan and the confirmation of the Joint Economic Commission. Currently, technical processes related to the implementation of the agreements are continuing.

Pirmoazzen noted that the commissioning of the Ardabil-Baku railway will also open new opportunities for the region's agricultural exports. In his opinion, this railway will facilitate access to Russia and significantly reduce logistics costs.

He also emphasized that the waiting time for commercial trucks at the border has been reduced from one week to 48 hours. If customs operations switch to a 24-hour regime, the volume of transportation will increase even more.
