Rossbach: WUF13 - opportunity to move from dialogue to action, from commitments to results

WUF13 provides a structured space to move from dialogue to practical implementation through high-level sessions, Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

The executive director of UN-Habitat also noted that the forum in Baku includes six high-level dialogues, more than 370 events organized by partners, and a global urban exhibition with more than 130 exhibits.

"WUF13 fosters stronger political engagement, including through ministerial dialogue, which will help define the next steps in implementing the New Urban Agenda. The combination of policy dialogue, innovation, capacity building, and political engagement makes WUF13 a global platform for practical implementation. Cities are already demonstrating leadership. Practical solutions are being implemented around the world-from upgrading informal settlements to expanding services and strengthening climate resilience," she said.

Rossbach also recalled that WUF13 will conclude with the adoption of the Baku Call to Action.

"WUF13 is an opportunity to move from dialogue to action, from commitments to concrete results. The forum will conclude with the adoption of the Baku Call to Action, which will reflect a shared vision and collective commitment to accelerating progress towards inclusive, sustainable, and safe cities.

The need for action is clear, knowledge has been accumulated, and solutions are within reach. Now, collective resolve is needed to ensure the promise of inclusive, sustainable, and safe cities becomes a reality for all," she added.
