The discussions held at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku will be beneficial for the intergovernmental process in New York, Poland's Permanent Representative to the UN, Krzysztof Szczerski, said at the session titled "Joint Closing of the Assemblies" held within the framework of WUF13, Report informs.
According to him, the discussions and negotiations conducted within the framework of WUF13 should reflect the positions and opinions of all stakeholders:
"The participation of the private sector here should be particularly emphasized. We heard the call from the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments regarding multi-level governance and multi-stakeholder partnerships. These are essential for the localization of the implementation and financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. Local and regional governments should be viewed not merely as service-providing entities, but as partners and key participants."
