The Washington agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan represent a historic turning point that will have a much broader impact on the region, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the SCO Plus summit in Tianjin, China, according to Report.
"On August 8 in Washington, with the support of US President Donald Trump, we, together with the President of Azerbaijan, adopted a peace declaration. This established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a historic turning point that will have a far-reaching impact on the region," Pashinyan said.
He added that current priorities include opening transport communications between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction. According to the Armenian Prime Minister, this will bring both international and domestic benefits for transportation.
"I want to emphasize that in the peace declaration adopted by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, specific terminology was agreed upon, which will help create a constructive atmosphere and facilitate further work. The Republic of Armenia and the United States of America are implementing an investment program in the field of communications called the 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity' (Zangazur Corridor – ed.). This program will continue to develop and attract investment. As a result of these projects, communication will be opened not only between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the domestic and bilateral levels, but new logistical opportunities will also emerge at the international level," added Nikol Pashinyan.
